Counseling for Trauma, Grief, Transitions, Health Challenges, and Personal Growth

Warm, effective telehealth counseling for adults in Florida and South Carolina. For clients ready to feel understood, gently heal, and move beyond trauma and other challenges draining their mood, energy, and emotional well‑being, I offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and supportive talk therapy.

I’m Carey Sempert, LMHC.

I work with thoughtful, capable adults who are carrying more than most people realize. On the outside, you may look like you’re functioning just fine. Inside, you may feel overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, stuck, scared, or weighed down by difficult experiences you haven’t been able to move beyond, no matter how hard you’ve tried. For many of my clients, therapy begins at the point where “pushing through” stops working or when other attempts at healing have failed.

I offer supportive talk therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for adults navigating trauma, grief, chronic stress, life transitions, and emerging or ongoing health challenges that affect them physically and emotionally. These are the kinds of experiences that create an inner heaviness that can be hard to explain but impossible to ignore.

My approach is warm, grounded, and practical. The focus is on helping you feel better, clearer, calmer, and more like yourself again..

My Specialities

    Trauma and PTSD

ART helps eliminate the emotional intensity of painful memories so they no longer have the power to trigger or dysregulate you.  You can finally feel safe and move on.

    Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a fast, gentle, effective, and evidence-based. It helps the brain reprocess distressing memories and experiences without requiring a detailed retelling of what happened.

Clients often come to ART when they feel stuck in trauma, grief, indecision, anxiety, or old pain they can't overcome. Many have already tried traditional talk therapy or other treatments and didn’t get the relief they hoped for, or found that talking about the trauma made them feel worse.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is different. It’s fast, gentle, and doesn’t require you to talk through the upsetting or painful details. ART helps remove the emotional charge around distressing memories so you can remember what happened without feeling pulled back into it. Imagine being able to recall the facts of what happened while feeling calm and detached. With ART, that's the kind of relief you can expect.

Quick Facts about ART

  • No detailed retelling required

  • Significant relief, often in just one or two sessions

  • Helpful for trauma, grief, making difficult decisions, and feeling stuck

  • Can be used on its own or alongside talk therapy
